How do I achieve my signature lift?
I'm often asked how i maintain a naturally sculpted and lifted look and i need to give credit where it's due. The trick is my gua sha routine that i do 3-4 times per week. It's so calming and it really has transformed my skin.
Today I'm sharing my entire routine + everything you need to get started!
What it is:
The practice of using a gua sha has been around long before it became mainstream. It's rooted in Chinese medicine and it's well-loved for how it reduces inflammation, promotes blood flow and circulation and detoxifies the skin through lymphatic drainage. It's pain-free and the ritual is a beautiful practice in self-care and dedicated you-time.
I've been doing my signature gua sha routine for years and it's really become the focus of my evening ritual. It promotes a feeling of calmness and it signals to my body that it's time to wind down.
I love my gua sha routine because it promotes collagen production, it gives my skin a lift and a sculpted effect. It reduces puffiness and decreases fine lines. I've even seen an improvement in the eye + eyebrow area too.
What you need:
- De La Heart Stainless Steel Gua Sha
- Gee Beauty Prime Skin Beauty Oil
- Gee Beauty 24K Gold Tech Bar
It's so important to use the gua sha with an oil so that there is enough slip to allow the tool to slide. Using the gua sha on dry skin will prevent a smooth glide and can pull and cause micro-tears to the skin. The oil assists the gliding and prevents dragging which can results with marks on the skin.

How to gua sha:
- I like to move in sections and I typically start with my neck because we tend to hold a lot of tension in the neck and then I like to move upwards to the jawline.
- I hold the tool flat to my jawline and holding the curved edge, I move it up toward my ear and move it downwards to promote lymphatic drainage.
- I do about 5-6 passes in each area and I move slow. This is special, dedicated time to yourself for you. No need to rush!
- I'll then go onto my cheek bone to sculpt and lift for a gorgeous contoured effect. Make sure you aren't pressing too hard. You want to see some redness appear - this means you're stimulating bloodflow which then promotes collagen production. However it should never be painful.
- I love working the gua sha gently under my eyes to stimulate the under-eye area.
- To work the forehead area, I like to start with the area between my eyebrows to smooth out the 11's.
- Then I move the tool along each eyebrow moving in an upward motion, almost a semi circle motion.
My pro tip is to start with the gua sha and follow it with the Gee Beauty 24K Gold Bar and to take it even further, I apply eye patches around my mouth to help soften those lines.
And for an added cooling effect, I love to keep the tool in the fridge. The cold really works to de-puff and invigorate but in a pinch, putting it in a glass filled with ice does the trick!
I like to do my gua sha routine in the evenings because it can cause some redness in the skin. After my routine, I apply my serums and get right into bed. Plus it will prevent any puffiness in the morning!” - Miriam Gee
