Underpainting is our favourite little makeup cheat. It’s a technique where you apply your contour and colour before your base — so everything looks softer, more natural, and like the definition is coming from within your skin.
Follow along with Natalie Gee as she perfects the easiest new makeup application — underpainting — step by step.
Apply Richbeam around the hairline and high on the cheekbones. Why: This creates natural-looking warmth and dimension that will still show through your base.
A smooth, creamy blush stick.
Swipe on Multistick Foundation where you want coverage — think centre of the face first. Why: Keeping the base light lets the underpainting stay visible and skin-like, not covered up.
Creamy, conditioning stick foundation with buildable coverage.
Use the Multi Skin Brush to blend everything out until it looks seamless. Why: This melts the sculpt + base together so it looks like one smooth, natural layer.
A multi-purpose makeup brush for on-the-go applications.
Tap Brightening Concealer under the eyes and in the inner corners, then add Pinkybeam high on the cheeks. Blend again with the Multi Skin Brush. Why: Concealer lifts and brightens, and Pinkybeam adds that fresh flush — both look more natural when they’re layered under and softly blended in.
Eyes look beautifully refreshed and radiant.
Lightly apply Prime Skin over top to smooth and even everything out without losing the glow. Why: It gives a soft-focus finish and makes the skin look extra fresh while keeping the underpainted dimension underneath.
A hybrid primer + skin-tint that gives a subtle glow.
